The inspectors are coming!
A two-day inspection blitz starts today in Simcoe-Muskoka.
The Ministry of Labour will partner with the police, public health and municipal bylaw enforcement officers to ensure local workplaces and businesses are complying with the provincial Reopening Ontario Act and its regulations.
SDMHU’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Charles Gardner says they include having safety plans in place, screening staff and customers for COVID-19 symptoms, ensuring the proper use of masks and face coverings, as well as control measures limiting capacity and ensuring physical distancing.
In February, a similar safety blitz found a 52 per cent compliance rate by the nearly 300 local businesses which were inspected.
The top violations were for failing to screen customers/employees and for not having adequate workplace safety plans.
