It is still unclear when the 2021 edition of the Goderich Farmer’s market will begin.
The downtown market typically runs between Victoria Day and Thanksgiving each year, but Mayor John Grace says this year’s market is facing a potentially extended stay-at-home order.
The Doug Ford governmoent issued a six week stay-at-home order to combat climbing COVID-19 rates, which is set to end May 20th, just before the normal opening of the Goderich Farmer’s Market.
Mayor Grace says, at this point, it is too early to confirm if the Saturday market will run as it did last year, with vendors spaced farther apart, or be delayed by an extension of the stay-at-home mandate.
Should stay-at-home orders be extended, Grace says it would likely mean the market would be delayed, as well.
Grace says cancelling the market is a possibility, but health and municipal staff will examine COVID-19 rates in the coming weeks and months before making any decisions.
