Public Health Grey Bruce recorded nine new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.
Its latest report reflects the 24 hour time period ending 23:59 April 28th.
The Health Unit says two residents of Owen Sound tested positive along with two in West Grey, one in Chatsworth, one in Georgian Bluffs, one in Grey Highlands, one in Southgate and one in Kincardine.
There are 85 known active cases in the region including 26 variants.
According to Public Health, 272 active high-risk contacts are associated with the region’s cases.
Two local residents are hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Grye Bruce, one resident is hospitalized outside the region and seven cases have been transferred from other Health Units to local Intensive Care Units.
Over the course of the pandemic, there have been five deaths linked to COVID-19 in Grey Bruce.
The Health Unit says there are no outbreaks in childcare centres, schools, retirement homes, long-term care homes or hospitals in Grey Bruce.
3,510 doses of vaccine were received the week of April 26th and 4,865 COVID-19 vaccines have been given in the past seven days.
57,718 total doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered locally to date.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Christine Elliott says starting at 8 a.m. Friday, April 30th, those aged 55 and up can register through the provincial booking system for their vaccine.
Grey Bruce is part of the province-wide emergency shutdown effective Saturday April 3, 2021 and enhanced measures on April 17th, 2021. The government intends to keep this shutdown in place until May 19, 2021.
