Public Health Grey Bruce is reporting 18 new cases of COVID-19 in its latest report.
This daily case count reflects the 24 hour time period ending at 23:59 April 27th.
The Health Unit says five residents of South Bruce Peninsula tested positive as well as three in Owen Sound, three in Southgate, two in Arran Elderslie, one in Georgian Bluffs, one in Grey Highlands, one in Meaford, one in West Grey and one more person whose town is not specified.
The Health Unit says with 13 more recoveries, there are 80 active known cases including 23 variants.
There are 293 high-risk contacts associated with the region’s cases.
According to Public Health, three local cases are hospitalized in Grey Bruce due to COVID-19 and one resident is hospitalized outside the region. Five cases transferred from other Health Units are being treated in local Intensive Care Units.
Over the course of the pandemic, five deaths have been linked to the virus in Grey Bruce.
There are no reported outbreaks in hospitals, long-term care homes, retirement homes or schools in the region.
3,510 doses of vaccine were shipped to the region this week.
57,131 total doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Grey Bruce to date.
