The Thornbury Pier Resurfacing Project has been delayed.
The Town of the Blue Mountains says this comes as a result of the required measures to be taken related to COVID-19.
The Town says on Tuesday, April 20th, it was informed by Brook Restoration Ltd. the crew working on the project have been identified as close contacts to an individual that tested positive for COVID-19.
As a result, and in accordance with public health protocols, the construction site has been temporarily shut down.
The Town says it has confirmed the contractors worked exclusively within the fenced construction site and it is believed they did not have any interactions outside their crew.
In the event of a close contact within the community, only those contacted by the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit would need to take any additional steps, including asymptomatic testing.
Director of Community Services Ryan Gibbons says, “The health and safety of both the workplace and the community continue to be the top priority for the Town,” adding, “The Town would like to extend our best wishes to all of those impacted.”
Construction at the Thornbury Pier began on March 12, 2021 with project completion scheduled for May 31, 2021 that date may now be delayed. Additional information will be provided on the project webpage on the Town website: https://www.thebluemountains.ca/thornbury-pier.cfm
