The Covid mass immunization clinic at the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound is moving.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit says it will be re-located to the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre on 10th Street East, as of Thursday, April 29.
“Anyone currently booked to the Bayshore Community Centre should attend the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre instead. Times of appointments have not changed,” a statement from Public Health explains. “Notification of the location change will go out by phone or email to those with appointments.”
The Health Unit says the higher number of Covid patient transfers from larger metropolitan hospitals to Grey Bruce Health Services increases the likelihood the field hospital at the Bayshore could come into use, and moving the vaccine clinics frees up the site for it.
Public Health says the move to the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre will also alleviate congestion and subsequent delays experienced at the Bayshore Community Centre clinic.
“The Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre facility is scalable in that it can be expanded or contracted depending on the amount of vaccine available and the number of clients to be vaccinated,” the Health Unit release explains.
