A Collingwood student has won a 100-thousand dollar scholarship.
Madelin Rioux from Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI) has been selected to receive the Schulich Leader Scholarship to support her pursuit of a computer science and engineering degree at the University of Ottawa.
“Madelin has consistently excelled academically, achieving distinction throughout secondary school,” says Collin Wallace, Guidance Department Chair at CCI. “In addition to her considerable academic achievements, through her part-time work and personal athletics, she has demonstrated her commitment to hard work, responsibility and success.”
The Schulich Leader Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 by businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich in recognition of the increasing importance and impact that STEM disciplines will have on the prosperity of future generations.
This year, entrance scholarships are being awarded to 100 high school graduates enrolling in a STEM undergraduate program at one of 20 partner universities in Canada.
