The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.
Three residents of Owen Sound tested positive as well as three in Kincardine, three in Brockton, two in Saugeen Shores, two in Meaford, one in Blue Mountains, one in South Bruce and one in Grey Highlands.
The Health Unit says with 22 more resolved cases there are 138 active cases, including 67 variants.
According to Public Health, there are 658 high-risk contacts associated with the region’s cases.
Four people are hospitalized in Grey Bruce due to the virus and two Grey Bruce residents are hospitalized outside the region.
Over the course of the pandemic, five people have died from the virus in Grey Bruce. One of the deaths is attributed to a person who became infected in Grey Bruce and passed away in another region.
Public Health says there are no outbreaks in local hospitals, long-term care homes or retirement homes.
Notre Dame School in Owen Sound has a confirmed Outbreak and Hanover Heights Community School has a Suspected Outbreak.
Queen of Heart Childcare Centre in Owen Sound has outbreak status and Public Health says there is a suspected outbreak at Jardin des DĂ©couvertes daycare in Owen Sound.
48,963 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Grey Bruce to date.
