Saugeen Shores police have charged four people with failing to comply with an order during a declared emergency.
Police say they were called Wednesday, about shoplifting at a convenience store in Southampton, where they located three people who matched descriptions provided by witnesses.
Police say these people were from Georgetown and not current residents of Saugeen Shores, making them in breach of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
The four Georgetown residents were charged with Failing to Comply with an Order Made During a Declared Emergency.
Police did not appear to charge them with shoplifting.
Police say fines for non-compliance can include:
Individual: Fail to comply with an order made during a declared emergency $750 Fine
Corporation: Fail to comply with an order made during a declared emergency $1000 Fine
