A Grey Bruce Public Health Manager is speaking out about harassment in the community when it comes to frustration over vaccine availability.
Ian Reich, Interim Director of Operations and Program Development says in a Letter To The Editor, (see below) people with issues in the provincial vaccine booking system have been calling Public Health to complain about the system.
He says he is now having to manage, “On a daily basis, multiple incidents where public health staff are sworn at, belittled, harassed and bullied to the point of tears.”
He’s calling the language and behaviour directed at staff completely unacceptable.
Reich is reminding the community that having lived through more than a year of this pandemic, staff there are just as tired as everyone else.
He’s asking everyone to be aware of their tone, and language they use and to support each other.
Reich says everyone who wants the vaccine will get it, it will just take time, but and adds now is not the time for bullying.
