Nearly $9 million in federal, provincial and municipal funding is going into some local community infrastructure projects.
Coming through the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada program, the funding will go towards:
-Municipality of Arran-Elderslie Paisley Town Hall Accessibility Project
-Township of Georgian Bluffs’ Kemble Community Centre Accessibility and Energy Efficiency project
-Town of Hanover’s Trails System
-Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula’s Improvement to Lion’s Head Community Centre and Arena, constructing six new barrier-free dressing rooms, creating a multi-purpose room and new space for the Bruce County Library, and renovating existing and adding washrooms to address accessibility
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker announced the funding in a release, and says “This is wonderful news as this funding represents a huge investment in the recreational and cultural infrastructure in our area, and is a significant boost for the rural communities.”
The federal government provided just over $3.5 million, the provincial government contributed almost $3 million and the other local municipalities provided over $2 million.
In a statement, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff says “It is exactly these types of investments that can drive economic growth and create jobs, and now is a vital time for these types of projects.”
