Public Health Grey Bruce reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 Monday.
Three residents of Kincardine tested positive as well as two in Owen Sound and one in Chatsworth, Hanover, Meaford, South Bruce, Southgate, The Blue Mountains, and West Grey.
With six more resolved cases, Public Health says there are 90 active known cases in the region including 28 variants.
The Health Unit says there are 405 high-risk contacts associated with the region’s cases.
Two cases were referred in from other Health Units.
Public Health says one person is hospitalized in Grey Bruce and one local person is hospitalized outside the region.
Over the course of the pandemic, four residents of Grey bruce have died from the virus.
The Health Unit says an outbreak has been confirmed in Notre Dame school in Owen Sound and there is a suspected outbreak at Beaver Valley School in Thornbury.
According to Public Health, there is also a probable case associated with Hanover Heights Community School.
There is also a suspected outbreak at Queen of Hearts Nursery School in Owen Sound. One confirmed case and seven probable cases are identified with this outbreak.
The Health Unit says “The individuals with COVID-19 have been contacted directly by our COVID-19 Case and Contact Management Team. We have worked with the individuals and the nursery school and have identified all others, both in and out of the school environment, who may have been exposed and have determined their risk level.”
Public Health says there are no outbreaks in retirement homes or long-term care homes in Grey Bruce.
6,380 vaccine doses have been received this week, and Public Health says 37,562 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Grey and Bruce to date.
As part of Phase Two of the provincial rollout of vaccine, the Grey Bruce Health Unit is moving forward with plans to offer the COVID-19 vaccine to the following sectors, beginning this week:
-Staff and residents from local shelter services and congregate settings
-Childcare staff
-Staff in all public, Catholic and private schools
They say these clinics will be in addition to the already scheduled clinics for eligible age groups, Indigenous communities, and immunocompromised patients receiving chemotherapy.
