The Municipality of Kincardine is aiming to complete the KIPP (Kincardine to Inverhuron Provincial Park) Trail after receiving just under $800,000 from the Infrastructure Canada Grant.
In a release, Kincardine Trails Committee Chair Brad Kirkconnell says the committee is looking forward to the development of the KIPP Trail, “I am especially appreciative of the effort that the trails committee has accomplished along with the funds offered by our generous sponsors and the cooperative effort put forth by Bruce County council and the Municipality of Kincardine staff and council.”
This grant is one of 30 handed out to various community and recreation projects in Ontario, and according to Kate Young, MP for London West. The funding will provide residents access to important recreational programs and services, as well as modem and accessible facilities for years to come.
Upon receiving this grant, Kirkconnell says, “Kincardine Trails goal was to offer a safe, active transportation route alongside Bruce Rd. 23 and the lower roads and pathways to Inverhuron, at the same time connecting the municipality. Mission accomplished.”
No completion date for the trail has been given as of yet, but will be updated once confirmation dates are set.
