The City of Owen Sound says it will have its flags at half mast in Memory of Prince Philip, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and husband to Queen Elizabeth II.
The City says the flags will stay at half-mast from now until sunset on the day of the funeral or memorial service.
A statement from the City says, “We extend heartfelt condolences to Queen Elizabeth II and the members of the Royal Family.”
In the United Kingdom, Westminster Abbey is flying its flags at half-mast today and will toll its bell 99 times (once every minute) in tribute to Prince Philip, who was 99 years old.
Buckingham Palace says in a statement the Duke of Edinburgh, “passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
Prince Philip spent 28 nights in hospital in February for an infection and a pre-existing heart condition.
The tribute at Westminster Abbey is to take place at 6 p.m. British Standard Time which is 1 this afternoon here in Ontario.
