Four additional cases of COVID-19 have been reported among Collingwood residents.
Though the majority of infections in the region continue to show up in Barrie, and South Simcoe County, the area’s chief medical officer, Dr. Charles Gardner, says the infection rate in Collingwood has grown. During a virtual news conference Wednesday, Gardner made note of Collingwood’s numbers.
“Collingwood now has a very high incidence of cases at 121 cases per 100 thousand population, and this is up from 29 cases per 100 thousand over the week that preceded last week. This is the highest they’ve had since the beginning of the pandemic.”
Gardner welcomes the provincial stay-at-home order which he says is “needed now more than ever.”
