Do you remember the sporting activities of your childhood ?
Organized or otherwise, there was seemingly a never ending sequence of games to be played or participate in.
I got wondering recently how things would have played out with a global pandemic in my childhood, and the conclusion was, since I wasn’t a brilliant student, that bleak might have been the best description.
Which brings me to 2021 and a recent conversation with Owen Sound Aquatic Club Coach Ken Fitzpatrick.
We were previewing the annual Swim-A-Thon and I asked a simple question about the attitude and atmosphere of his swim club members during restricted times……..
……To be clear, this isn’t an issue restricted to the swim club, and in fairness I’m fairly certain that it applies to every sport and activity for every age bracket up to young adult…..and maybe beyond
So as we swim through difficult COVID waters, we need to be mindful that the impact on our youngest citizens, athletic or otherwise, could be quite harsh.
