The Port Elgin BIA is gearing up for the return of the Farmer’s Market this summer.
The announcement was made at the BIA’s Annual General Meeting.
BIA Coordinator Jordan MacKinnon says the market was canceled last summer because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He says the board was not willing to let it go by the wayside again, so they’re bringing it back.
It may look a little different in June because the BIA plans to follow the rules of public health whatever they may be at the time.
MacKinnon says the BIA is excited to be bringing the Farmer’s Market back because it gives the community a chance to buy from selected vendors who have also had a rough year.
It also creates foot traffic downtown which helps BIA members.
Weather permitting and Covid rules permitting, the market will open on the first Wednesday in June.
