The Ontario government is extending booking for COVID-19 vaccination appointments to those aged 70 and over through its online booking system and call centre in 11 additional public health units today.
Sunday night, the Province announced it would be making appointments available as of 8:00 a.m. March 29th, for a number of regions including Grey Bruce.
Since this morning, residents have reported issues.
Public Health says it’s aware people are having trouble, and the reason for that is, the spots filled up right away this morning. They say to try booking again later in the week, for an appointment next week.
Public Health says bookings are related to the number of vaccines available to the area, and we’re getting about 5,000 a week.
The Health Unit says in a statement, “Appointment availability is based on vaccine delivery. As clinics fill, times can no longer be booked in the scheduler. If unable to book, try again later, additional clinics are being added regularly, as vaccine becomes available. We use all doses of COVID-19 vaccine we receive each week; with the exception of a small amount to ensure a supply for clinics scheduled at the start of the following week.”
