A Tiverton woman has won some big bucks playing a lottery game.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation says Donna Gallant matched five cards in the Feb. 19 Poker Lotto draw to win $100,000.
Gallant checked her tickets in the middle of the night — around 2:30 a.m. — and was shocked to see the win. She immediately texted her son and told him to call her when he woke up the next day.
“He called and asked me what was going on and I told him I think I won. I sent him a photo of my ticket and he confirmed it. He said it couldn’t have happened to a better person,” Gallant smiled.
Gallant plans to purchase a new woodstove and new doors for her home with some of the winnings.
“I’ll also enjoy having this boost to my nest egg. When the pandemic is over, I’d like to treat myself to a weekend in Niagara to play Bingo and have a little fun,” she added.
The winning ticket was purchased at Giant Tiger on Goderich Street in Port Elgin.
