A traffic stop in Tay Township has resulted in the arrest of a suspected impaired driver.
Police say a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation on Highway 12 near Pine Street on Tuesday night.
The officer upon speaking with the lone driver entered into an drinking and driving investigation resulting in 24 year old Alex Dawe of Midland being charged with the following offences.
- Operation while impaired – alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Fail to have insurance card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
The accused was released from police custody on a undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on April 8, 2021. The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the accused’s driver’s license has been further suspended for 90 days under the conditions of the Administrative Drivers License Suspension (ADLS) .
