More than a dozen retirement homes in Bruce and Grey counties are receiving over $417,000 in combined funding from the province to help with pandemic-related costs.
It’s part of $30-million the Ontario government is doling out to retirement facilities across the province, to help pay for hiring and training, testing additional staff and sanitizing residences to contain spread.
A statement from Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker’s office says the funding will be used locally to purchase personal protective equipment and cleaing supplies.
“I’m very happy to see this funding for our retirement homes in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound. They have done amazing work during this pandemic to keep their residents and staff safe,” Walker says in a release.
