The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament begins tomorrow and runs to April 5th based solely in Indiana, primarily in Indianapolis.
That’s a departure from the normal format but overall the concept remains the same.
As of this moment, 68 teams are ready to roll, but 4 teams will be eliminated tomorrow in the First Four.
Norfolk State meets Appalachian State with the winner advancing to face the # 1 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs.
Wichita State goes against Drake with the winner moving on to take on USC
Mount St Mary’s will oppose Texas Southern. The winner of that match goes into the bracket against # 4 Michigan
And finally tomorrow it’s Michigan State meeting UCLA. The victor of that game will advance to oppose BYU.
As mentioned, Gonzaga is the # 1 seed, followed by Baylor, Illinois & Michigan.
Normally, the NCAA Tournament holds little appeal for me as the tournament generally runs opposite to the conclusion of the Ontario Hockey League season and the start of the OHL Playoffs.
However, in the pandemic era with no OHL certainly tomorrow, my interest for college hoops might be a little higher than normal.
For Pete’s Auto Body I’m Fred Wallace
