One person is dead after a fire in Barrie.
Deputy Fire Chief Carrie Clark says Barrie Fire responded just before 6 pm Monday to reports of a fully involved house fire on Shirley Avenue in the Sunnidale Road and Wellington Street area.
She says on arrival there was a report of an occupant unaccounted for and crews had to knock back the fire before making strategic entries to search.
The occupant was located on the main floor and transported to RVH where they were pronounced dead.
The scene is in care of The Ontario Fire Marshal, Barrie Fire and Barrie Police to conduct the joint investigation into origin, cause and circumstance of the fire. It is expected to take a day or two to process the scene.
