A Community Garden is coming to the Town of Goderich this Spring.
The garden was approved by town hall officials at Columbus Park on Balvina Drive, and spokesperson Serena Hazlitt says goods produced at the garden will benefit the community.
“We will all work together to harvest and grow the food, and then the harvest will be shared amongst the volunteers and also available to people in the community,” says Hazlitt.
“We’re just sorting through those details on how to distribute the food.”
To help the Goderich Community Garden grow, Hazlitt says volunteers are needed.
High school students looking to fulfill their community service hours are eligible to assist with the garden, as well as anyone willing to volunteer their skills for a COVID-19 safe activity.
Hazlitt says officials with the garden will be reaching out to Goderich District Collegiate Institute for volunteers.
A number of businesses have also contributed to make the garden a reality, including:
- Home Hardware
- Canadian Tire
- Tim Hortons
- Zehrs
- Lions Club
- Town of Goderich
- Rural Response for Healthy Children
