Saugeen Shores police have arrested and charged a 65 year old Port Elgin man with a number of firearms related offences.
Police say on Tuesday, (March 9th) officers received information that a man was in possession of a shotgun (in
violation of a weapons prohibition).
Soon after receiving this information, an officer located the man and placed him under arrest.
Police say a search of the man revealed ten, 12-gauge shotgun rounds and a bolt action for a large calibre rifle.
They say nearby, the officer located a 12-gauge pistol grip shot gun.
Police say they obtained a search warrant for the man’s residence. and located two more rifles and several hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
A 65 year old Port Elgin man has been charged with:
1. Breach Court Order 127 CC
2. Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 91(1) CC
3. Careless Storage of a Firearm 86(1) CC
4. Possess Firearm – No Licence 92(1) CC
5. Breach of Release – Other 145(4)(a) CC
He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
