OPP are reminding seniors about scams claiming a loved one is in an emergency, after two residents were defrauded of several thousand dollars.
Police say two victims, one in their 70s and one in their 80s, each sent out $4 thousand cash to an address in Montreal last week to assist someone they believed was involved in a car crash.
According to reports, one victim thought they were helping a neighbour, while the other thought they were assisting a grandchild.
OPP say scammers will often rely on a victim’s love of their family and friends to request an immediate delivery of money.
