A small cluster of Covid cases linked to a Southampton restaurant has prompted the Grey Bruce Health Unit to advise anyone who attended the establishment on Feb. 23 to get a Covid test.
Public Health says in a release it is currently investigating Covid cases associated with the Walker House Restaurant. The Health Unit says there is evidence of transmission between patrons within the restaurant.
Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says three cases are associated with the cluster.
“In addition to the identified cases, there is a potential risk of transmission to patrons who dined at the Walker House Restaurant in Southampton on Tuesday, February 23,” a release from the health unit explains.
Public Health says while it directly contacted those identified as close contacts, there are still unknown patrons who visited the restaurant on this date.
In addition to seeking a Covid test, the Health Unit is asking anyone who did dine at the Walker House on Feb. 23 and is experiencing symptoms to call Public Health at 1-800-263-3456 ext. 3000.
Public Health notes there is no risk to anyone who visited the restaurant on any other day.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit says the facility remains open and is working to ensure the safety of all staff and patrons.
“Restaurant management have been working in conjunction with Grey Bruce Health Unit to enhance their internal practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” a health unit statement explains. “The practices implemented by the Walker House now exceed the minimum requirements put in place by the province to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in hospitality settings.”
