There could be another last-minute extension to off-peak electricity rates, but they are due to come to an end today.
The off-peak rate of 8.5 cents per kilowatt hour was in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in order to encourage Ontarians to spend more time at home.
If there is not another extension, that means electricity customers will start to pay the RPP prices that were set by the Ontario Energy Board on December 15, 2020.
It says those prices will be either Time-Of-Use or Tiered pricing, depending on which price plan the customer is on.
#UPDATE: Fixed electricity price of 8.5¢/kWh for Time-of-Use & Tiered customers extended to end of day February 22, 2021. This price will be in effect no matter what time of day you use your electricity, or how much you use. Read @OnGov's announcement: https://t.co/cl5s23eCEw pic.twitter.com/i9lCexkMsI
