Premier Doug Ford is refusing to apologize for directing what’s being called a “misogynistic” remark towards the head of the Opposition.
A heated exchange occurred between Premier Doug Ford and NDP leader Andrea Horwath during Question Period yesterday over the government’s pandemic response.
Ford compared listening to Horwath to “nails on a chalkboard” and that has prompted calls for him to apologize.
Shortly after the remark was made, Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner tweeted “This kind of misogynist attack is unacceptable”, while Liberal Leader Stephen Del Duca wrote “misogynist rhetoric like this has no place in the Ontario legislature.”
Horwath says Ford owes an apology to the people of Ontario, not her.
My message to women: don’t let anyone try to tell you you don’t belong at Queen’s Park.
I’m going to continue making positive proposals to give people the help and hope they need to get through this pandemic. If Mr. Ford doesn’t like hearing my positive proposals, too bad.

Misogynist rhetoric like this has no place in the Ontario Legislature. For it to be hurled by a Premier is unthinkable. @fordnation should apologize immediately. We expect better. #onpoli https://t.co/9YHoCk975W
