Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” proudly sponsored by Pete’s Auto Body.

These are confusing times with confusing directions, and that applies to every aspect of our lives including local and big time sports.
In the last month we’ve seen an assortment of signals; positive and negative.
– The Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association confirmed that Tampa Bay will be their home base for the remainder of this season
– The National Lacrosse League abandoned their earlier plan to stage a Spring league, electing instead to fold the case and look forward to a natural resumption in play next Fall. That makes me wonder about the Ontario Lacrosse Association. Normally at this date on the calendar, meetings have been held and schedules are virtually in place. That’s not the case today, and at best I’d suggest the O.L.A. is in a holding pattern for 2021.
– The National Women’s Hockey League, a 6 team tournament, had 2 teams withdraw and the event was halted at the Final 4 due to concerns about COVID-19 in Lake Placid, New York.
& The province of Ontario gave its two American Hockey League teams the green light to play, clearing the way for the Toronto Marlies and Belleville Senators to play home games. If that’s the case, can the Ontario Hockey League be too far behind ?
I think I know the answer to that with the majority of OHL centres in Orange, Red or Grey zones based on the most recent color scheme released last week.
Some sporting events, like some activities in our lives, are making tiny to major steps to return while other, sometimes similar, endeavours remain in limbo.
For Pete’s Autobody, I’m Fred Wallace
