One of three new COVID-19 cases in Muskoka has screened positive for a variant of concern.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s Medical Officer, Dr. Charles Gardner, made the announcement yesterday and said follow-up testing was being conducted to confirm the particular strain.
The three new cases reported on Tuesday are: a Gravenhurst woman between the ages of 35-44, a Bracebridge man between the ages of 65-79, and a Huntsville man between the ages of 45-64, whose case linked to an outbreak.
Gardner also said 153 people have tested positive for the UK B.1.1.7. variant in the region so far, while a further 131 people have screened positive for a variant of concern, but are awaiting secondary testing to confirm.
