Saugeen Shores police fined a number of people for breaking the Province’s COVID-19 Stay At Home Order on the weekend after someone made an accidental 911 call.
Police say on Sunday, at about midnight they received a 911 call from a residence in Port Elgin. Officers attended and spoke with the homeowner and a man outside.
Police say they were told the call was an accident and that no emergency was taking place, but officers still needed to speak with the other occupants of the home to ensure no one needed assistance.
Police say they found three people at the residence did not reside at the home and were in breach of the current Stay at Home Order that was in place at the time.
They also say the people were from out of town and all lived in separate residences.
Police ticketed a 41-year-old woman from Saugeen Shores, a 53-year-old woman from Guelph, a 52-year-old woman from Guelph and a 55-year-old man from Guelph for failing to comply with an order made during a declared emergency.
The Stay at Home Order was in effect until 12:01 a.m. February 16th. It is now lifted. Grey Bruce is in the Province’s Yellow-Protect restriction category.
