The latest update by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit includes 36 new COVID-19 cases, along with five deaths related to the virus.
Three of the victims were from Barrie, while one was from Wasaga Beach and the third from Penetanguishene.
Among the new cases today are:
15 in Barrie
2 in Oro-Medonte
1 in Ramara
2 Penetanguishene
2 in Collingwood
2 in Clearview
2 Penetanguishene
1 Bracebridge
The SMDHU also says 51 local cases have tested positive for the COVID-19 variant of concern UK B.1.1.7 and an additional 32 cases have screened positive, but are awaiting secondary testing for confirmation.
Meanwhile, three more Roberta Place residents have died due to a COVID-19 outbreak, bringing the death toll to 67.
