Do you know what day it is? It’s Groundhog Day!
Yes, it’s the time of year we look to our country’s famous furry forecasters, but due to the pandemic, festivities are going virtual today.
Wiarton Willie emerged from his den this morning to predict an early spring and you can watch the announcement below.
Folklore has it that if a groundhog sees its shadow on February 2, it will retreat into its burrow and that means six more weeks of cold weather, while no shadow is said to foretell spring-like temperatures are coming soon.
Shubenacadie Sam in Nova Scotia has also predicted an early spring, while Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania is calling for six more weeks of winter.
