Bracebridge OPP have been cleared by the SIU, following an incident involving a 43-year-old woman.
Police say the woman went to hospital for a panic attack on October 31st last year, and had an interaction with officers outside.
The woman alleged she had sustained serious injuries as a result of the interaction, but the SIU says she refused to sign her medical releases and hand over any information to investigators.
The SIU was not even made aware of the alleged incident until December.
As a result, SIU Director Joseph Martino said, “Based on the SIU’s preliminary inquiries, I am satisfied that the SIU investigation should be discontinued at this time. As the SIU is unable to confirm the nature and extent of the woman’s injuries, if any, the SIU is presently without jurisdiction to investigate this matter. The file, accordingly, is closed.”
