Orillia is launching the 2021 Downtown Tomorrow Grant Program.
It encourages growth in the core of the city by providing grants designed to stimulate development.
Council approved $240,000 for the 2021 grant program to offset costs related to façade improvements, signage, feasibility studies, building improvements and the creation of residential units.
“Financial incentives, like the ones offered through the Downtown Tomorrow grant program, not only help spur revitalization of our city’s core, but they also stimulate local spending that helps our community during these difficult times,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “Completed projects to date have an actual return on investment of 1:14, meaning that for every $1 of funds granted by the City, an additional $14 was invested by private business and property owners.”
The first application deadline of 2021 is Feb. 26, 2021.
Before applying, applicants must take part in a mandatory pre-consultation with City staff, which can be completed through attendance at a virtual community workshop.
The first virtual community workshop will take place on Feb. 11, 2021 from 4 to 5 p.m.
Registration for the workshop is open by clicking here.
