The Province’s Special Investigations Unit was contacted after an incident in Hanover.
Police Chief Chris Knoll says on January 24th at 4 in the afternoon, Hanover Police were called about a man who had walked away from the hospital while under care for mental health.
Police say the man was under dressed for the weather.
With the help of West Grey police, they found the man on top of a greenhouse roof on the former John Deifenbaker Secondary School property.
Police say while they were trying to convince the man to come down he fell through the glass paneled roof onto the floor below. Police say the man fractured his right shoulder and had minor cuts to his hands.
Grey County paramedics transported the man back to the hospital for treatment.
Police contacted the SIU. The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials including police officers that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person. All investigations are conducted by SIU investigators who are civilians.
