Owen Sound has added a new, temporary transit route to the East Bayshore route.
The City says in a release, in order to accommodate the reduced ridership limit due to COVID-19 and the demand on the most frequently used transit route (the East Bayshore route) an additional Owen Sound Transit conventional bus will be put into operation beginning Monday, February 1st.
The City says it will operate until March 31st, 2021 at which time the route will be re-evaluated.
The new Midtown route will operate Monday to Saturday from 10a.m. to 3p.m.
It will depart from the Owen Sound Transit Terminal and include Walmart and the Hospital as part of its service run.
Maximum ridership will stay at ten people on the bus at any given time on all routes. Face coverings remain mandatory while riding the bus and while waiting inside the Transit Terminal.
The City says preventative measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 continue to be taken with frequent sanitizing of the buses and Transit Terminal.
Mayor Ian Boddy says in a statement, “We are pleased to be offering this additional Midtown bus route to help accommodate residents during the pandemic. I would like to thank our transit staff for their continued dedication. I encourage residents to follow the provincial guidelines and only utilize the transit service for essential outings.”
