If the lockdown has you missing your local art, entertainment and culture, the Tom Thomson Art Gallery is now offering a digital portal that will allow you to feel as though you’re touring the gallery in person.
It’s a free all-access site for The TOM’s online programming and hosts virtual tours of exhibitions and education activities that you can enjoy from home.

Mayor Ian Boddy says in a statement, “This new digital portal is an incredible new tool for sharing the Gallery’s impressive art collection, exhibitions, and programming with an even larger audience. I look forward to virtually touring The TOM from home!”
Gallery Director and Chief Curator Aidan Ware says, “While we are all facing the challenges wrought on us by the pandemic, we know that art has never been more important to lift us and to inspire us.
Virtual tours right now include, Group of Seven: The View From Here as well as a virtual tour of local artist Alan Glicksman’s work called ‘The Process of Becoming’ and a gallery collection called ‘Drawn In: A Selection of Works From the Gallery’s Collection.
Educational activities include, TOM From Home: Mixed media as well as leaves and flowers, (Grades K-3), Crayon Engraving as well as a snow day project (Grades 4-6) Shadows (Grades 7-8) which is an activity for participants to go outdoors on a sunny day and observe light and vegetation and Contour Portraits (Grades 7-8) among other activities.
