Saugeen Shores Police have charged a man who allegedly assaulted and threatened officers during an impaired driving arrest.
Town Police say they received a report from a citizen just prior to 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon about a suspected drunk driver who was stuck in a ditch on Cemetery Road.
Police officers attended the scene and arrived to find the male driver seated in his vehicle.
Saugeen Shoes Police say the man attempted to drive his truck out of deep snow, ignoring officers’ demands to stop.
Police say the male was “clearly intoxicated”. They say they were able to convince the man to stop trying to flee.
Town Police say the 36-year-old eventually got out of the vehicle on his own power. He was then placed under arrest.
Police say the male immediately began to resist, and allege he threatened bodily harm against an officer.
Town Police say the man also kicked the same officer during the arrest and threatened to kill another one after being secured.
A 36-year-old Saugeen Shores man faces numerous criminal charges, including assault with intent to resist arrest and uttering threats to cause death.
The accused was released from custody with a future court date.
