We mentioned yesterday that Hanover Raceway had their race dates set and many of their promotional activities were in place.
Yes, everything could be disrupted, but to their credit they’re putting schedules and agendas in place for 2021.
Similarly, the organizers of the Denis Bester Memorial Shootout have set their dates and formulated their plans for the now-annual fishing derby.
The Denis Bester Memorial Shootout will commence on August 27th and run for 9 days to September 4th, almost the identical dates for the Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular.
The organizers of the Denis Bester derby believe they can successfully & safely run their derby adjacent to and with the Salmon Spectacular to both highlight sport fishing in the region and support community activities.
The Salmon Spectacular is conducted by the Sydenham Sportsmen Association and proceeds from their event are directed to their many conservational activities.
The Denis Bester Memorial Shootout last year was able to generate $ 10,000 to both The Salvation Army Food Bank and Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Grey Bruce.
This year, a third benefactor, Chapman House Hospice, will be added to the list of organizations supported by the Shootout.
So whether you fish in the Salmon Spectacular or in the Denis Bester Memorial Shootout, or both, you’ll be in a competitive derby on a tremendous body of water for angling, and supporting a variety of community cause at the same time.
