Ontario’s chief medical officer of health says the province must cut its daily COVID-19 case counts to below 1,000 before lockdown measures can be lifted.
However, Dr. David Williams called the goal “achievable” yesterday.
He made the comment just a couple of hours after the Ministry of Health reported 2,578 new cases of COVID-19 and 24 new deaths related to the virus.
Williams also said he would also like to see the number of COVID-19 patients in hospital intensive care units decline from more than 400 to about 150, which would allow elective procedures to resume at most hospitals.
