Skates Cancelled
Skate Canada announced that the 2021 National Skating Championships and Skate Canada Cup have been cancelled.
Skate Canada says the events were being cancelled because of the “evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic across Canada.”
The Canadian championships, which were also the trial competition for the world championships this March in Stockholm, were scheduled to run from February 8th-14th in Vancouver.

The National Hockey League season begins tomorrow night
A number of teams making roster adjustments prior to the season put players on waivers.
Among those made available were former Owen Sound Attack members Chris Bigras ( Philadelphia ), Kurtis Gabriel ( San Jose ) and Gemel Smith ( Tampa Bay )
Kane Bankrupt
San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in California after reportedly amassing $26.8 million of debt
The filing included the possibility that Kane may not play in the upcoming season, although he has been at Sharks camp practicing with the team.
Financial records indicate that Kane has earned more than $52 million in team pay throughout his 11-year career.
Andreescu Returns
Canadian tennis star Bianca Andreescu will return to the court at the upcoming Melbourne Summer Series.
A pair of WTA Tour 500 events will run January 31st-February 6th as part of the series,
Andreescu, the 2019 US Open Champion, hasn’t played since a left knee injury forced her to retire from a match at the WTA Finals in October 2019.
Hendriks Heads To White Sox
Free agent closer Liam Hendriks is reportedly in agreement on a 3-year deal with the Chicago White Sox
The deal is pending a physical & is worth $54 million
Previous reports linked the Toronto Blue Jays with Hendriks after he was seen meeting Jays president and CEO Mark Shapiro earlier this month in Dunedin.
