A regimental funeral for a Calgary police officer killed in the line of duty has been held today.
The service for Sergeant Andrew Harnett took place at 1 this afternoon and included a flypast by two CF-18s.
Harnett died on New Year’s Eve after he was struck and dragged by a vehicle during a traffic stop, and two teens have been charged with first-degree murder in his death.
The 37-year-old leaves behind his wife, Chelsea, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child and due this summer.
Harnett grew up in Hagersville, trained at CFB Borden, and one of his brothers, Jason, is the communications specialist for the town of Gravenhurst.
