Ontario elementary students may not be returning for in-class learning next week as planned.
Premier Doug Ford says the province is consulting experts, including Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams, on whether students should return to schools next week, as planned.
All students are currently learning online as part of a provincial lockdown with elementary students due to return to school on Monday and high school students on the 25th.
Teachers’ and parents’ groups have expressed concern about the planned resumption of in-person learning as the province continues to record thousands of COVID-19 cases.
Ford says the government will make a decision in the “next day or so”, after consulting its experts.
