We need more COVID-19 vaccines.
Premier Doug Ford has urged the federal government to increase COVID-19 vaccine supply to the province, because he says we’re going to run out soon… possibly as early as next week.
Gen. Rick Hillier said yesterday that over 10,000 people are being vaccinated in Ontario daily, and so far more than 50,000 people have been vaccinated across the province.
Hillier said even though another 47-thousand vaccines are expected to arrive soon, at the rate vaccinations are taking place, that shipment will run out by the end of the next week.
He said, ‘We could use more doses, thousands more.”
Earlier in the day, the province announced that residents and workers at long-term care homes in the hot zones of Toronto, Peel Region, York Region and Windsor-Essex will all get the shot by Jan. 21.
Watch below for the full update.
As of this evening, over 60,000 vaccines have been administered to Ontarians. As the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines continues, our government is investing an additional $398M to reduce the risk of the virus from entering long-term care homes from the community. pic.twitter.com/1l4uXsC1YI

We are working around the clock to get COVID-19 vaccines out the door. Toronto, Peel, York and Windsor will vaccinate all #LTC staff and residents by January 21. We are emptying freezers as quickly as possible and won’t stop until every vaccine in Ontario gets into a waiting arm. pic.twitter.com/Bk4VuHEBUR
