The Avon Maitland District School Board is asking employers to be respectful of the learning time of their student staff members.
Grades K to 8 students will be learning from home until January 11th, while grades 9 to 12 students will resume in-person classes January 25th.
The AMDSB is asking that local employers be respectful of these requirements and not use the time period as an opportunity to bring students in for extra shifts throughout their school day.
Because attendance is taken during online learning, students not taking part can fall behind, the board explains.
“We hope that by educating local employers about student expectations that they will treat this online learning time frame the same way that they do the usual school schedule. It is important that we come together as a community to support our students as they navigate this challenging time.” said Dr. Lisa Walsh, Director of Education.
