Owen Sound’s Festival of Northern Lights will be shining on a little bit longer than originally planned this winter.
Festival chair Jamie Walpole says the board decided to extend the annual display until Jan. 17 to help “add a little brightness” over the next few weeks during the provincial Covid lockdown.
“It’s a safe, outdoor environment if people want to take a drive or walk past the lights,” Walpole explains. “It just might help during the lockdown.”
The Festival of Northern Lights displays are set up along the Sydenham River in downtown Owen Sound, and at Harrison Park.
They are turned on from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. every evening.
