NHL Notes
The National Hockey League announced a change to the off-side rule.
The alteration allows a player’s skate to count as on-side even if they are not in contact with the ice.
Meanwhile, there’s been no official resolution to the question of whether Canadian teams will be able to play in their home arenas.
Those decisions are in the hands of provincial health officials
The NHL’s target date to return to play is January 13th.
The New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals and Nashville Predators became the first National Hockey League teams to unveil helmet ads.
Advertising on helmets us a one-year trial.
With fans not allowed in most arenas and a financial shortfall coming with a shortened 56-game regular season, the helmet ads are seen as an untapped revenue stream and as a form of ” make good ” for advertising agreements that cannot be fulfilled due to the altered nature of in house activity
