Five new cases of COVID-19 were reported Monday (Dec 21) in Grey Bruce.
Public Health says two are in Southgate, and there is one each in West Grey, Saugeen Shores and Saugeen First Nation.
With two recoveries Monday, the Health Unit says are 34 active case and 12 active probable cases. Probable cases are not lab confirmed, but are symptomatic and are high-risk contacts of an active case.
They say there are 171 High Risk Contacts associated with the region’s active cases.
Four confirmed cases from Grey Bruce are currently hospitalized.
No one has died locally from the virus.
Public Health says two long-term care facilities have declared outbreak status after staff or health care workers tested positive for the virus, they are The Village Seniors Long-Term Care Home in Hanover and Errinrung Long-Term Care Home in Thornbury.
The outbreak at Lee Manor in Owen Sound has been declared over.
Public Health says there are no outbreaks in schools or daycares in Grey Bruce.
The Health Unit says it is working with the Bluewater District School Board to address a positive case of COVID-19 associated with Normanby Community School in Ayton.
They say while there is one positive case associated with the school, there is no evidence that transmission took place within the school environment.
The Health Unit has assessed the risk to the bus route and says it has determined that no further action is required at this time.
